History
Kestrel Ecological Services was founded in 2007 by Michael Meisenburg and Erick Smith. Michael and Erick met in 2004 when they both were graduate students of Professor Alison Fox at the University of Florida. Prior to 2007 they had collaborated on many projects involving exotic invasive species research and control. This collaboration and an increasing number of requests for their expertise led to the formation of Kestrel Ecological Services.
Current Operations
Both Michael and Erick spend most of their time in the field with the crews. Their academic backgrounds and over 50 years of collective field experience guarantee a tailored approach and hands-on expertise for every project. Both maintain close ties to the University of Florida and are members of the Florida Native Plant Society, Audubon of Florida, and the Florida Exotic Pest Plant Council. Michael and Erick are supported in the field by a staff of highly trained personnel.
